What Could A Hard, Painless Lump Under The Armpit Indicate?
This is a long shot and I don t know why I ve waited so long but I ve had this little pea sized lump under my right armpit, which is hard, and painless. I ve had is probably since I was about 17 or 18 and I m now 24. I never asked a doctor about it before because it was never a bother to me nor did it cause any illnesses. I just started to notice it more nowadays I guess, and I m just wondering what it could be. I m 24, female, 5 1, 110 lbs., no medical history.
The mild protrusion in the left armpit is likely to be due to a soft tissue injury. It can be due to a torn fascia or torn muscle fibres. This is likely to heal on its own with rest. You can avoid all the overhead movements. In case there is a sudden sharp pain then a tear in the rotator cuff needs to be ruled out after an MRI scan.
Usually such soft tissue injuries heal in 4-5 weeks if proper rest is given to the area. You can take a mild pain killer if it is painful and do a hot compress in the area for an earlier relief.
Wishing you good health. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
