What Could A Moving Lump Near The L5 Spinal Bone Indicate?

hi, i have a question regarding i think its myL5 spinal bone, i have a hollow space where it doesnt match with the oposite side, a round fatty type lump is there instead of bone is how it feels to me,i know also my hip in which my spinal feels normal shall i say is tilted slightly more forward than the other hip, which there for make me seem taller on this side, ofcourse to the eye this isnt noticable. but i had a check over of my spine and this was my feedback, is this normal? this lump is rather large and moves to the point where i can actuall push it around, i shall certainly get it checked out i am jjust curious to know if this sounds common enough? regards jacqueline

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about a movable limp in lower spinal area and seems to be painless as you have not mentioned about pain or tenderness.
The lump which can be moved around easily without any tenderness can be taken as a lipoma unless proved otherwise.
To get a proper diagnosis do the following:
Consult a General Surgeon for clinical examination.
Confirmation by Ultrasound and FNAC.
Get operated as this is not a normal part of body to get rid of it and get a confirmed diagnosis by histopatho examination.
Since the lump is on a pressure point it should be removed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
