What Could Abdominal Pressure, bloating And Discomfort Post Unprotected Sex Signify?

I had unprotected sex five days ago last Thursday and it wasn't for long at all. He pulled out and everything seemed fine until Saturday when my stomach started feeling like there was a lot of pressure in it. Since then five days later my right side has been a little painful to touch and my stomach has felt tender and bloated. When I press on it it feels as if there is gas trapped inside. When I use the restroom it feels better but then is feel the same again. What could this mean? I also ovulated today if that changes anything.

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

i dont think this is related to the intercourse. so i dont think you should worry about that

to a certain extent, the pain can be explained by the ovulation. but i am guessing that this has never happened before (else the query would be on earlier)

what you have developed is probably something like irritable bowel syndrome. however the duration is too short to say so. but yet your symptoms fit into that syndrome

i would suggest you start some antacids like omeprazole, take some stool bulking agents like isapghulla, and try antibiotics liek rifaximine. of course this latter will be on for a longer time

if this does not help, an ultrasound, stool routine and endoscopic examination may be planned

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.

OBGYN Dr. Sree Gouri SR's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The possible causes for your problem are:
-Pelvic inflammatory disease.
Unprotected intercourse can lead to complications like pelvic infection.
That can lead to pain abdomen, bloating sensation etc.
-Urinary tract infection. Sometimes intercourse can lead to urinary tract infections also.
Gas producing organisms can lead to bloating sensation.
-Gastrointestinal problems.
If the symptoms persist, once consult gynecologist and get examined.
If your doctor recommends go for ultrasound, urine culture and sensitivity etc investigations.
By examination, investigations and detailed history, the possible cause for your problem can be identified and treated.
Take care.
