Hello,
Your symptoms should not be ignored, as they may indicate a serious dental or oral infection. If the tooth is a partially erupted wisdom tooth, the surrounding gum flap can get infected and cause pain, swelling, pus, and difficulty opening the mouth or chewing. Infection at the root of a tooth, especially molars can also cause swelling, pus pockets (grain-like bump), and pain radiating to jaw and ear.
Your symptoms are suggestive of a
dental abscess or severe infection. The most prescribed antibiotics are a combination of
Amoxicillin plus
Clavulanate. For pain, you can take
Ibuprofen or Combiflam. Take medicines after taking your meals or you will suffer from
gastritis. Do not delay treatment as upper jaw infections can spread to the sinuses, face, or even the brain. Go to the ER and get treated at the earliest opportunity if you develop fever, swallowing difficulty, breathing problems, or worsening swelling.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
