What Could Be Causing My Daily Forehead Headaches Despite My History Of Migraines And Use Of Lexapro?

Hello, I get headaches across my forehead almost everyday. They don’t hurt bad but are very annoying and make me feel depressed. I do have a history of migraine already since I was a child. I don’t have any nausea, auras, or sensitivity to light. Also have no dizziness. What could be causing these tension headaches. I’m on lexapro for anxiety and depression.

Hello,

Your symptom of daily forehead headaches is suggestive of tension-headaches than migraines, possibly triggered by muscle tension, posture, eye strain, stress, or even side effect of Lexapro itself. If Lexapro is the cause, then you are advised to keep your treating doctor informed. He may consider adjusting the dose, switch to a different antidepressant.

Don't worry, simple lifestyle changes like hydration, posture, stress reduction, screen breaks and checking if Lexapro is contributing can help. Limit screen time, do regular exercise and stretching and ensure that you have quality sleep at night for not less than 8 hours. Heat or cold packs on forehead/neck along with massage to scalp/neck muscles will be helpful.

Avoid intake of excessive caffeine, maintain good posture while standing, sleeping or walking. You can check with an eye specialist to rule out vision problems as it also triggers headache. Avoid tension both physical and emotional and give yourself sufficient time to relax.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
