What Could Be Causing Sore Throat, Headache And Fever With Chills?

My daughter had gotten sore throat, fever with chills, severe headache and backache symptoms started Monday this week. Went to the doctor on Tuesday, they did a rapid strep culture. It was negative. She has been in bed since. They sent it off to the extende culture. Called me today and said it was negative. Yet, Wednesday night, her throat was covered with white puss pockets. The doctor would not treat her and was going to make her wait for an appointment which would not happen for 2 weeks. If it is not strep, what could it be? She is 16.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It could be a bout of pharyngitis or step throat.
Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxclav.
Do warm saline gargles also.
If symptoms persists you can consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
