Hello my son (4) had a TA removal, bilateral tubes and tongue clipped. During surgery the surgeon stated she found a glue like substance in both ears. She took cultures of them. He is on a 10 day course of antibiodics, along with pain meds. What do cultures test for? Any ideas what this substance might be? He had previously suffered from impacted ears with wax and very large T and A.
Understanding your concern. As per your query glue like substance found in ears could be due to fungal infection of ear canal, fluid accumulation and impacted wax in the canal. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like hearing test, examination with otoscope and audimetery tests. Doctor may remove wax , prescribe antibiotics in case of infection , anti inflammatory , corticosteroid ear drops. For now apply warm dry compresses. Put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day. You should take proper rest. You should use waxol ear drop and keep it for half an hour and clean your ear canal.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
