What Could Be Straight Blue Lines On Upper Arm With Heaviness And Pain, diagnosed With Heart Failure
I have a straight blue line on my upper arm area with smaller lines running down from it--my arm is very painful to use and feels heavy....has felt like this since leaving the hospital after diagnosed with heart failure--can u give me some ideal of what the line is?
Hi ! Good morning and a happy new year 2014. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
From your history, it seems that you have got thrombophlebitis (inflammation/infection of the superficial veins) resulting from the possible intravenous line which might be there during your hospital stay and treatment. If I were your doctor, after clinically confirming the diagnosis, I would have prescribed you with some anti inflammatory drug and a broad spectrum antibiotic if need be with proper rest to your affected arm. This should relieve your problem.
I hope this information should help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
