What Could Be The Cause Of Hand Swelling Post A Successful Bypass As Veins From The Hands Were Used ?

My fathers bypass is succesful on 26th march 11 now his hands wsells what is reason My father 71 yrs old. Having a bypass (after an-geography test) on 26/03/11. he was suffering from TAD. Now he is in good condition. Hand veins are used for heart bypass. But now there is hand swelling on both hands. What is the reason? Is it Normal?

Hi,thanks for query.It is possible that there might be some infection over the donor site.Normally this does not happen,at times when local lymphatic system is disturbed local swelling can come.Please talk to the surgeon who has performed the surgery and he will be taking care of this.
