What Could Be The Cause Of Lump Underneath Incision Site?
Hi, I had LAVH, BS on 7/26/13. My stitches were removed 11 days post op. On my right side, at the incision site it feels like there s a lump underneath and I think there may be a stitch still there because the skin is bunched together. What could be the cause of this?
Hello, Thanks for the query. You might have developed an abscess. Stitch site is prone to develop these. Abscess are deep bacterial infections. In simple terms bacteria infect our body and destroys tissue. This destroyed tissue forms pus and a collection of pus anywhere in body is called as abscess. Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests. Abscess must be drained and pus should be subjected to tests to find out which bacteria is causing it and to which antibiotic the bacteria is sensitive. Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
