What Could Be The Cause Of Occassional Spotting And Early Periods While On Microgestin Birth Control?

Iv'e been on the birth control MIcrogestin Fe1/20 for almost 6 months now with no problems. However, recently i began to have occasional spotting during the months as well as my period starting almost a week and a half early. What could be the cause of this sudden change?

Hi,

You should get evaluated for blood spotting by pelvic examination and ultrasonography of pelvis. If needed than Hormonal profile also can be checked to rule out Hormonal imbalance. If you are using Hormonal pill than spotting can be due to its side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
