What Could Be The Cause Of Severe Pressure Sensation In Head?

I just went to the movies. When I got up and started walking out, my head felt this intense pressure like it was going to explode. I literally felt like I was going to pass out and die. This has happened before, but never this intense. I have normal blood pressure. I'm 5'3" and 200 lbs. I don't drink alcohol or sodas. I'm 35, female. The pressure went away after 2 minutes, but my neck is still stiff. Tonight's episode scared me.

Hi. I have read your question. There are a few causes for your symptom. I will mention those in order starting from the most likely diagnosis.

1.Glaucoma: It is a condition in which there is elevated pressure in your eyeball causing pain, blurred vision and halos. This precipitated by dark ambiance. You need to get yourself check with an ophthalmologist for this.

2. Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: This is due to a minor bleed in your brain. Since you have written that it was the worst headache of your life and your neck hurts so as an ER physician, I would suggest you visit an ER and get a lumbar puncture tests done. This would confirm SAH.

3. Skeletal pain radiating from your neck to your scalp muscles. Watching a movie in awkward posture sometimes result in muscle stiffening and pain. A simple pain killer like PANADOL will help relieve the pain.

I suggest you visit an ER for work up of your headache as you are showing some red flag signs
