What Could Be The Hormones Present In The Transsexual Male?

In the early 1970 s I had occasion to give legal representation to a transsexual male who had been living as a female for five continuous years. I am now writing a book on this story and need to know the precise name(s) and spellings of the mega doses of female hormones that were then being prescribed. Estrogen is the only medication that I can remember. Can you please identify the one or two additional hormones that would have possibly been prescribed for her condition?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello
I have gone through your question and understood your concern.

I can't know exactly, what the doctors prescribed at that time to a transsexual male but as endocrinologist i can say that Cross gender hormone therapy for transwomen may include three different kinds of medicines: Estrogen, testosterone blockers and progesterones.

Estrogen is the hormone responsible for most female characteristics. It causes the physical changes of transition and many of the emotional changes.

The testosterone blockers are a number of medicines that can block testosterone and they fall into two categories: those that block the action of testosterone in your body like Spironolactone and those that prevent the production of it like Finasteride and Dutasteride.

About Progresterone i want to explain that hough it’s commonly believed to have a number of benefits, including: improved mood and libido, enhanced energy, and better breast development and body fat redistribution, there is very little scientific evidence to support these claims.

Nevertheless, some transwomen say they experience some or all of these benefits from progesterone and it can be one of the names of the hormones that have possibly been prescribed at that time.

Hope this information is helpful.
