What Could Be The Reason For Blood Streaks In Flem?
I've had flu symptoms for about 48 hours, and I've been coughing up the usual yellowish mucus with the odd red streak. But just recently I had felt extreme pressure in my throat, and ended up coughing out this mucus covered, pink, rubbery blob in 3 parts. There was immediate relief but about ten minutes later I can feel something again. There is obviously a lot of blood in this, it is overall pink but with bright red streaks all throughout. It won't slice with my fingernail, and if I push on it, it returns to it's shape. What is this?
I have gone through your query regarding blood streak in phlegm, and you are worried for blood in phlegm.
As you said that you are having flu for last 48 hours and because of it coughing is there. In every infection of throat the lining mucosa get infected and congested, whenever congestion is severe the inflamed mucosa gets abraded at places and oozing of blood takes place. This is not serious and after taking medication recovery is excellent.
Here I would like to suggest you for these basic investigations-
Inferences of above investigations and there clinical co-relation with physical findings by your family doctor correct diagnosis may be establish and finally the treatment may be planed.
Regards.
