What Could Be The Reason For Cough And Irritation In Chest And Shoulder Area During Liquid Intake ?
I cleaned the house this morning and sat down to take a break. I took a drink of coffee and it seemed like a drop went down the wrong pipe so I coughed about 3 times. After the last cough, I got an immense about of pain in the top of my core near my neck and shoulders, ,y lips started tingling, my upper chest tingled and my left arm began to tingle. I also felt ill and so I hurried upstairs where my family was, laid down and after about 5 minutes the episode passed. Is this something to be concerned about?
There is nothing to be concerned about. You aspirated some drops of your coffee into your wind pipe. Its the normal reflex of the body that it coughs up whenever anything goes into the wind pipe. Forceful coughing use the muscles of the neck and shoulder so thats why you are feeling pain in them. The tingling feeling is due the body's response to danger called SYMAPTHETIC ACTIVITY. These symptoms will go away in half an hour and you will be perfectly fine.
