Hi Anil ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Any kind of alcohol is an irritant to
gastric mucosa, and it may cause gastric bleeding specially in those who take it for a long time due to the affected
liver function because of alcohol. If I were your doctor, I would advise you for a test of the vomitus for occult blood, and if the problem persists, then would suggest for a gastro enterological consultation, who may advise you for an
endoscopy.
Till then, you may start having a
proton pump inhibitor, a prokinetic drug, and a liquid
antacid which will help in reducing the acid production and its irritating effect on the stomach mucosa. Also you have to be choosy in your diet in that you should avoid spicy and hot curry, and go more for a bland diet of vegetables.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
