What Could Be The Reason For Having Loud Roaring Sound In My Ears And High Blood Pressure?

I was awakened in my sleep by a loud roaring sound in my ears. My head felt like there was an engine inside. The is an echo and even my own voice is very loud if I speak above a whisper. My blood pressure went up to 182/102. My hand and feet swelled up. My blood pressure is normally well controlled with medication and stays around 110/65. I took my blood pressure medication in the morning and it returned to normal, but the loud roaring and echo is still in my head.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I had read your clinical history and as you said that one morning you awake due to roaring sound in your ears and at the same time you had noticed echo of spoken words and unfortunately on that vary morning your B.P. was quite high otherwise it remains well controlled.

All above put myself to think over some fluid in middle ear and same picture is very common in cases of common cold but as you are not having cold but your high B.P. may have developed leakage of minor vessels in middle ear (haemotympanum).

To confirm the diagnosis and deciding the line of treatment you should do-

1- C.T. Scan of ear.

2- Tympanometry.

These above investigations are helpful in making the diagnosis.

You may now take-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Chemotrypsin or serrtiopeptidase.

3- Don't put any ear drop.

This will most likely solve your problem.

Regards.
