What Could Be The Reason For Having Pain In Carpal Tunnel Even After Having Normal EMG?

Hi, I had an EMG done yesterday and he said it was clear but that I have obvious pain in the carpal tunnel. I m going to my doctor next week to go over the results. What should I expect to be the next steps in solving this pain... cuz it really hurts!

Dear friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Normal EMG implies there is no muscle damage from the problem
Nerve conduction too maybe normal till a time
Surgery, local infiltrations, weight reduction and so on help in the long term…
Over The Counter (OTC) Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) will be useful in the meanwhile... Some anti-depressants (SSRI / SNRI) and/or anti-epileptic drugs (gabapentin) elevate the pain – irrespective of the cause – threshold and help
The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.

Good luck
Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
