What Could Be The Reason For Iron Deficiency And Anemia?

I became severly iron deficient anemic about a month - month and a half after a episode of severe fatigue/exhaustion (never called adrenal) and went throught several procedures (endoscopy, colonoscopy, barium swallow, CT scan) in order to look for a source of blood loss. Could my anemia be linked to the exhaustion? What blood tests should/could have been ordered if a connection is suspected?
