What Could Be The Red And White Patches On Tonsils?

My daughter yesterday had red and white patches/streaks yesterday on her tonsils. No pain. negative quick strep test. Today there's pain and the patches in part are now black and bloody to the touch. Lots of pain. 12 hours into the lengthy strep test and still negative. What could this be?
