What Could Be The Red Bump On Stomach?

My son had red bump on his stomach that over time turned black and so he popped it today. He said black pus came out and then his stomach started hurting. He then threw up, but I think that was nerves. What could this be? It is now red all around it.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your question and I can understand your concerns.

If i were your son's treating physician i would have looked for umbilical and paraumbilical hernia. For which i would have done physical exam to look for a hole in the abdominal wall.i would have checked its reducibility and tenderness to ascertain its strangulation.i would have asked about passage of stool as obstructed hernia can cause constipation and vomiting.umbilical or paraumbilical hernia will need surgical fixation. In the presence of bowel obstruction and vomiting it is surgical emergency.i would have done xray erect abdomen to look for air fluid lebels which are present in obstruction.i would have done ultrasonogram to look for a rent and contents of hernia.
Other possibility is a boil or an abscess.

I would suggest you to meet a general surgeon for a second opinion.

Thanks.
Hope the answer is helpful.
Feel free to ask further questions.
