What Could Be The Red Swollen Knot On The Lower Abdomen?

I have a red swolen knot on the lower abdomen area. It burns and has grown front a marble size to an egg size lump in the last 4 days. I have been applying hot compresses. What could this be? Could it be an insect bite? I am an 86 yr old female who is in somewhat good health.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

If I were your doctor, I would not opine on it without a clinical examination of the lump and getting some routine investigations of your like a blood sugar, CBC, and other necessary investigations as the case might be. Therefore, I would advise you to show it to a general surgeon in your area to get it managed properly to prevent any other complications.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
