What Could Be The Soft Lump On The Back And Top Of My Calf?

I've had a painless, soft lump on the back and top of my calf for a few months. I can only see it when I'm standing. I thought maybe it was part of what appears to be a vericose vein developing. I don't feel anything out of the ordinary when I press on it. What could it be?

The lump which is at the back of calf area and seen only if you stand up is definitely a large varicose vein. Another possibility is herniation of the calf muscle.

Confirmation can be made on clinical examination and by color doppler examination.
