What Could Bilateral Non-obstructing Renal Stones In Following Ultrasound Report Suggest?
I recently had an ultra sound and these are the Findings...please tell me what it means...thank you. The right kidney measures 11.1 cm length and the left kidney 10.9 cm. Moderate cortical thinning is present on the left. There is a 1 cm mid to lower pole nonobstructing left renal stone. 2mm nonobstructing stone is present in the upper pole of the right kidney. There is a l.l cm peripelvic cyst on the right. Urinary bladder was not examined. IMPRESSION. Bilatoral nonobstructing renal stones the largest of which measures 1 cm mid to lower pole left kidney.
I have gone through ultrasound report and I will to to explain it to you. First of all the kidney sizes are in the normal range. As for the stones....there are basically two types of stones....obstructive and non-obstructive. Obstructive stones are those which get stuck anywhere along the urinary tract causing swelling of the kidney. They usually require prompt medical intervention, whereas, the non-obstructive stones ( which you have on both sides) are the ones which require no immediate medical treatment and pass out on their own through urine. Perl pelvic cysts are usually formed with age and do not require any treatment.
I would suggest you maintain a good hydration level, drink citro-soda sachets to avoid infection as further increase in size of stones.
Please contact ER in case of any bleeding or pain.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to HCM if any concerns. Wishing you good health.
