What Could Bruised And Swollen Nose Post Being Hit On Nose Indicate?
Hi my daughter had head butted me in the nose and as soon as she did there was a popping noise. There was immediate pain redness and slight swelling. Well through out the day swelling got bigger and bruising slowly started to appear along with off and on head aches right above my eyebrows. There has been no bleeding at all and this morning i feel like my nose got bigger and more bruising is starting to apper. What would you diagnose this as?
Hi, The swelling and bruising developed after injury. Swelling and redness of overlying skinis the natural body response to injury, there is increased blood supply to injured area and white blood cells concentrate in that area for healing process. Pain is marker of inflammation it usually occur on the site of injury as well as adjacent area. Bruising indicates bleeding in superficial layer of skin. There might be possibility of fracture of nasal bone which usually associated with rapidly increasing swelling and sometimes nasal bleed.
I will advise you to consult ENT surgeon and get evaluation done. X ray of nasal bone help in excluding fracture. Pain killers and anti-inflammatory medicine help in decreasing swelling and pain.
