What Could Burning Sensation In Back With Loss Of Appetite Indicate?

My mother in law 87 is having a burning sensation from within. It is mostly on her back. We do not see a rash, or bumps as we checked for shingles. She has loss of appetite and has difficulty keeping food down. She was at the ER yesterday ran blood work urine and also CT scan of her kidneys. All came back good.
