What Could Cause A Growing Bruise On The Inside Of The Wrist?

My elderly mother inlaw showed me her bruise from repeatedly bumping her wrist on a piece of furniture. But what I seen is a one inch wide by five inch long red bruise on inside of wrist that she says today is moving up arm.What might it be? Blood poisoning, clot, spider bite? There is no swelling or soarness.
