What Could Cause A Sharp Strain On My Left Side When Bending, Lifting, Or Laughing That Stops Me Until I Stand Up Straight?

Hi. I have noticed for about a few years whenever I bend over to tie shoes, lift anything heavy, laugh hard, ect..... I get a hard strain on my left side that immediately stops me from what I m doing. I have to stand straight up and wait for it to go away.
