What Could Cause Chlamydia Trachomatis?

i was diagnosed with chlamydia trachomatis. I believe my partner and i have been monogamous through out the year and a half. I found out she had chlamydia before years ago. Is it possible for her to be a carrier and infect me after a previous case 5 years or more after the original case?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

The fact that your partner was diagnosed with chlamydia 5 years ago, I guess she must have been provided treatment for it, then and there.
It is not usual to leave it untreated because it can ascend up the genital tract cause serious complications like infertility.
However, the infection can persist without much symptoms and it is possible to remain so for years. In that case it may be an old infection from her.
The only other way you could have got it from her is a re-infection.
Since you have it now therefore I suggest testing for both of you and appropriate treatment.

Regards
