What Could Cause Delayed Periods And Milky Discharge, Despite Contraceptive Intake?
hi, i had unprotected sex two days before my period was due, took1 dose of emergency contraceptive 6hours later, and the 2nd dose 3hrs after that. my period is 1 week late and i have a lot of white, milky, runny vaginal discharge. could i be pregnant and can i take a pregnancy test now or is it too early?
Usually in case of regular 28 to 30 days menstrual cycles, ovulation is not expected two days before menstruation, and so the possibility of pregnancy is less. Emergency contraceptive pill taken in the second half of menstrual cycle usually delays the menstrual period. So, maybe because of that your periods are late.
If your periods are irregular and you want to rule out the possibility of pregnancy, please go for a urine pregnancy test two weeks after intercourse if you do not get periods till that time.
Minimal mucoid discharge can be seen in premenstrual phase, but as the discharge is excess in quantity with milky white in color, better to rule out pelvic infection. Please consult your gynecologist once and get examined to find out the cause and take treatment accordingly. Local and systemic antibiotics can help in curing the infection.
