What Could Cause Headache And Pain In Right Cheekbone After Sustaining An Injury?

I was hit on the right cheekbone by a person s elbow in a game of volleyball about 30 hours ago. I have a little amount of pain in the injured area and a mild headache neither of which are really troublesome. Is there a cause for concern? When can I expect the headache to subside?

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

You have apparently suffered a mild blunt injury over the bone and overlying muscles.
It takes a 3-5 days for the minor transient damage to the tissues to heal. So, I don't feel that is serious.

Take 3-5 days' course of an anti-inflammatory drug, such as, ibuprofen along with hot compresses, which will suffice.

Hope I have addressed to your concerns to your complete satisfaction and you find my response helpful and informative. I will be happy to answer further queries, if any.

Fond regards and have a nice day,

Col (Dr.) Rakesh Karanwal
