What Could Cause Itchy Rash On Neck?

I have a rash and itching from my neck to my breasts, across my shoulders, down my back and slightly on my arms to the back of my hands. I am taking non drowsy Claritin and hydrocortisone cream. It s been over a week with symptoms and the bumpy skin area just keeps growing. I m not hungry and sleeping a lot, even though the Claritin is the non-drowsy formula. I have not changed soaps or detergents or eaten unusual foods. Is there anything that will make this go away rather than just easing the itching?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of an itchy rash on the neck which is very common due to blockage of sebaceous glands, an allergic reaction or side effects of certain medications. It could be due to the fact as dirt and moisture get trapped by your clothing.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you keep this area clean and dry, apply a cream containing azelaic acid, apply warm compresses with a soaked towel and apply vitamin C serum at night. You should avoid touching or pricking rashes. If the condition doesn't get better then consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for a lab test. The doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants, antibiotics like clindamycin, anti-inflammatory or antifungal. Apply ice pack on rashes 2-3 times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
