hi dr.. i just had an inject of depo provera last sept,, my inject ended last dec 19.. i did not had the chance to attend on it,, now its january still i dont have my period.. my boob is soaring & i can feel something in my tummy.. but i already took the pregnancy test and its negative,, im getting strees out thinking of what is this,, i hope im not pregnant
Depot Provera acts by suppressing the ovaries so that no eggs are produced. It makes this quite effective as birth control method. However, return of ovarian function can take up to 6-12 months. The symptoms that you have reported could be due to your own hormones taking over as ovaries begin to wake up as level of long acting progesterone in Depot injection, begins to fall. The pregnancy test is expected to be negative if ovulation has not resumed yet.
