What Could Cause Missed Periods With Spotting While On Depo Shots?
Am on the depo shotf or nearly two years now i had irregular period only the month before i should get my shot i had sex in April and saw my period in the same month i recieved my shot the same month while on my period a couple hours after my period stopped i did two pregnancy test and they are both negative my period is due but am wonderingif its because am taking iron tablets is the reason why am spotting
Depo-Provera has a failure rate of less than 1% when it is used correctly and consistently.Irregular periods and spotting can occur as a side effect with Depo shots even after 2 years of drug use. I would suggest you to take a blood test to rule out pregnancy considering that blood test is more sensitive than urine test.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
