What Could Cause Pain Around The Scalp And Swollen Lymph Nodes At The Neck?

I recently plaited my hair and it was very painful..it was unbearable to even sleep...two days later I noticed slightly larger lymph nodes on my neck behind the ear and on both ends of the back of my head.. could the painful hairstyle be the cause of my swollen lymph nodes?
