I am a 44 year old female in healthy condition. Most of the time I can tell the direction of a sound, although sometimes lately, I misinterpret the direction. But twice recently, a sound that was coming from a few feet to my left, sounded like it was happening directly beside my left ear and startled me! What could cause this to happen? I’ve had an MRI within the last year due to tingling all over my body, especially left side face and top left side of head. I was also having trouble with verbal comprehension and word retrieval. MRI showed some small bright objects, but I was told it did not indicate anything was wrong. I’ve since seen a naturopathic doctor who helped balance my hormones through a liver cleanse, and also treated me for parasites. All symptoms subsided with these treatments, except the facial tingling on my left cheek. The misinterpretation of sound direction is a new thing. ENT found nothing wrong with my ears or hearing. What, if anything, could this be? What else should I have checked?
