What Could Cause Reduced Hearing And Fullness In Ears After Jumping From High Boat?
Dear Dr, I am a medical student. On Monday I jumped off a boat from a height of 7 m. Afterwards both my ears had a feeling of fullness, and my hearing has been reduced but not lost in both ears. Worse so in my right ear. I did not experience any intense pain or dizziness following the jump. I do have a history of middle ear infections when I was much younger and grommet insertions when I was very small. In addition I had an operation when I was approx 9 yrs to heal a hole in my R ear drum due to it failing to heal after my grommet fell out. As of now I have feelings of fullness in both ears. And reduced hearing in both ears. I do not have any dizziness or pain or a fever. Thank you
I understand your problem of fullness in both ears after a jump from height of 7 feet from a boat.As you said that you have a grommte in one ear and other is operated. Patients with grommete should avoid swimming etc for preventing ear problems.
In your case the possibilities for blocked may be-
1- Wax of ear may get swollen with water ( if your ear was having wax).
2- Perforation of ear drum.
3- Grommete may get blocked.
To rule out above you should consult your ENT doctor for examinatin and treatment.
Thanks for consulting HCM.
