What Could Cause Severe Cough During Pregnancy?

Hello Doctor,

I am 7 weeks pregnant. I am suffering with severe cough since 3 days. I want to know whether coughing will hurt the baby or not?? I am very much scared about my cough as it is very severe(when Im coughing, my whole body is shaking). So Im worried about any miscarriage will happen because of this cough???

Dear member,
Thanks for writing.
If you have mf upper respiratory infection and no fever then there is no added risk of miscarriage.
But 20% of all pregnancy lead to miscarriage before 12 weeks.
So ultrasound is necessary to check for the same.
Consult your doctor for an expectorant. To reduce cough.
