What Could Cause Severe Pain Below Rib Cage With Feeling Of Shifting Insides
My son is complaining of a pain below his rib cage. He said that when he was sleeping last night, it hurt really bad and that he couldnt lay on his side because he felt like his insides were shifting??? He said that he had to lay flat to be able to get some relief
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your son's situation and problem. Pleural effusion can cause lower rib cage pain. It can collection of fluid in the pleural cavity, surrounding lung. Because of fluid collection, patient can have shifting feeling inside the chest. So possibility of pleural effusion is more in your son's case. For this he needs chest x ray and ultrasound examination of chest. If both these are normal than no need to worry for pleural effusion. He is mostly having simple musculoskeletal pain. So ask him to apply warm water pad application on affected areas. Give him painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs. Don't worry, he will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
