What Could Cause Sudden Cough Followed By Bleeding With Urination And Burning Suggest?
Around 2AM my husband had an urgent need to cough as he began to void and immediately began bleeding. He continues to have blood in his urine and states it burns at the end of his urinating. He has no fever, chills, nausea nor pain. He has had a history of kidney stones.
Hello Thanks for query. Hematuria and burning urination with past history of having kidney stone strongly suggests these symptoms to be due to recurrence of kidney stone .
He needs to consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis. 1) Urine routine and culture. 2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis.
Give him broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixine along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure he drinks more water .To keep his urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis. Dr Patil.
