Hello Sudden shivering in the night with difficulty in breathing may be due to these reasons , these includes. 1 Throat infection , as you mentioned that there was shivering with breathing problem . As in throat infection sometimes allergy also added and this causes shivering due to bronchoconstriction . In such situation usually there develops whistling sound and heavy breathing . Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination by a physician . 2 Malaria , this is the another most common cause of shivering ( but in this condition patient feel fever also ) However shivering in itself causes breathlessness .
