What Could Cause Swellen, Sore Tongue With White Flap After Hysterectomy?
I had a hystorectomy via DiVinci. Surgery was 5-6 hours of surgery, long but successful. Only one problem after surgery, under my tongue is swollen, beefy red, and very sore.
I questioned the anastesioligist and he has no idea, kinda felt brushed off. Also, now 7 days post -op, under tongue is better but still sore, and I have also developed a white flap directly under the tongue that connects to the tongue. HELP!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms sore and painful tongue and painful under-surface of tongue is due to allergic reaction of certain medications that must have advised to you pre and post surgery causing GLOSSITIS. The white flap that you are experiencing can be a normal structure Plica fimbriata that is normal mucosal fold and appearing white due to inflammation. Nothing to worry you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl. Suck ice cubes and gargle with cold water. Take a multivitamin tablet daily.. Hopefully you will improve in a week but if still symptoms continue consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
