What Could Cause Tender Throat?

Good morning. The day before yesturday, I woke up w/ a "tender throat", I can barely swallow (hurts to swallow, even water!) And the glands beneath my jaw are slightly swollen on both sides. My voice isn't hoarse & Im not coughing.

Also, I just had my appendix removed approx.2-3 weeks ago. Would that have anything to do w/ my state?

Otolaryngologist/ENT Doctor 's  Response
Hi,

From the brief clinical history is seems like you are suffering from a throat infection. Your present condition could be related to the air tube (called endotracheal tube) inserted in to your throat during the surgery. It is not uncommon to see this after surgery (due to general anesthesia).
A course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory mediciations could be helpful. Additionlly gargle with warm salt water thrice daily.

Please consult your ENT doctor and follow his/her advise.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Prasad
