Cold sores are not normally associated with systemic symptoms, in most cases the symptoms are limited to the area where the sores are located though this can vary from one person to the next.
Cold sores tend to re occur when the immune system is impaired so using multivitamins and a wide range of fruits and vegetables (so can get a range of minerals and vitamins) may help to boost your immunity.
In addition, the use of probiotics may help. Probiotics also help to boost immunity.
I hope this helps
