Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Continued Fluid Retetntion In Right Knee Indicate?
I m been having fluid on the right knee for aprox 2 1/2 weeks. No pain, or tenderness or redness at this time. I have seen an orthopedic dr aprox 1 1/2 ago who did drain and had it compression wrapped for two days and upon removing the wrap I have seen no difference. I am wondering what I should do now?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Collection of fluid in knee joint can occur due to various causes like infection, trauma, joint inflammation, autoimmune disorders etc. Absence of pain, tenderness, redness rules out acute infection of the joint like bacterial infection. Recurrent collection of fluid in joint cavity can be due to autoimmune disorder or rheumatoid arthritis. I suggest you to consult your orthopedician for clinical correlation to diagnose the condition and thus manage it further.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
