What Could Delayed Periods With Appearance Of Two Lines HPT Kit Indicate?
Hi doctor I had my period due on 10th of this month (my cycle on an avg is 30-37 days). I did a pregnancy test today morning and the result showed a dark line (in front of C ) and a light colored line, which appeared after a minute or two of doing the test (in front of T ). Can you pls suggest what does it indicate?
Most urine pregnancy kits have one line that always appears (to make sure the kit works- called the control, or C line) and a second line (T for test) that appears if you are pregnant. However, if you let the test sit longer than it says in the directions, the second line may appear as a false positive.
So it depends on the individual kit you purchased if you let the test sit for too long. You said you left it for a minute or two- so if the particular test you used said to read it after 30 seconds, it is likely a false positive. If not, a faint line on the test can mean you are pregnant but very early.
I think the best option would be for you to repeat the test with your first morning urine and read the directions for how long the line should take to develop. If you have two lines when you repeat the test, that means you are pregnant.
I hope that I was able to answer your question and that this information was helpful.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
