What Could Diarrhea, Painful Chest And Vomiting While Having Sickle Cell Anemia Indicate?

Yes, I have a problem I m trying to help my brother who is in another country; he went into the er with difficulty breathing, pain in his chest, vomiting and diarrhea. He has Sickle cell anemia. The er didn t treat him immediately and he was admitted later on for treatment of the diarrhea, they said ct found a mass or some kind of cyst on the upper part of his lung; the problem is they don t give a clear diagnosis, I m inquiring for a second guess

Hi,

Without examining him and seeing the CT report, it is difficult to comment on the mass / cyst. Otherwise this suggests acute gastroenteritis with acute chest syndrome (poor lung perfusion precipitated by the gastroenteritis). Usually this will respond to treatment of precipitating condition and other supportive measures like analgesics, fluids and oxygen. Your doctor will discuss in details.
