What Could Episodes Of Itchy Ears And Throat Post Tonsillectomy Indicate?

Goodday doctor, I've been having itchy ears and throat since after my tonsillectomy and that was 4years ago, months after the surgery I saw my doctor and he said it was normal, since then have been having episodes of the itching but not as severe as what am experiencing now.should I be scared? And I'm not in my country to make an appointment with the same doctor that did my surgery.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain many a times itching on ears and throat can be due to throat infection caused by bacteria or virus while it can also be due to Ear infection causing infection in throat as the Eustachian tube open in throat and make a communication between ear and throat.
It can also be due to allergic reaction, post nasal drip secondary to Sinusitis, acid reflux etc..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough evaluation of ears and throat and rule out the exact cause and treat you accordingly..
As of now you can take levocetrizine or Benadryl for relief from itching if needed as well as gargle with a numbing mouthwash and do warm saline gargles..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
