I have fever, and I have excessive mucus so when I try to spit it out sometimes its yellow or green and few times its with blood... I don t have a sore throat though, no pain in the throat but maybe little.. What can t it be? Also I m a smoker, been smoking for 5 years now. I m 19 years old.
Hi. The excessive mucus with Sore throat suggest that your are suffering from Respiratory tract infection. The blood is due to severe inflamation associated with active infection which is suggested by green or yellow color of the secretions. I would advise you to get a course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant oral medicines as well as topical nasal drops. Complete the course for 7 days and if there is relief continue for 3 weeks or till you are absolutely alright with no more mucus ,cough , bleeding and other symptoms. If no relief, then you have to undergo tests of blood, urine, CT scan of sinuses. This will decide the further management.
