What Could Feeling Of Nodules On Perineal Raphe Indicate?

My sister recently told me she feels 2-3 nodules on her perineal raphe. She says it feels like if she presses to hard on them they will pop, but they do not and there is no pain attributed with them. When observed there are no physical nodules seen. We are unsure if she should see a doctor or not for this issue.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the feeling of nodules on perineal raphe and not visualised during inspection may be of concern on clinical grounds.

* There can be soft tissue mass as prolapsing hemorrhoid which can be felt as nodules and the same go back into anal canal after defecation process is over.

* It is best recommended to consult your consultant surgeon for per rectal and proctoscopy evaluation of the anal region for the final diagnosis and cure accordingly.

* Till that time, take care to have smooth bowel evacuations on regular basis with help of high fiber diet and bulk forming laxatives.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
